In the wake of its campaign to encourage Canadians to stay home, Lowe's Canada launches a tool for the purchase of Sico tinted paint online

Thanks to the Colour Selector by Sico®, RONA and Reno-Depot customers can now choose from some 1,800 colours offered by Sico and buy tinted paint from the comfort of their home

Boucherville, QC – April 23, 2020 – As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to evolve across the country, Lowe’s Canada, one of Canada’s leading home improvement retailers operating or servicing more than 470 corporate and affiliated stores under different banners, is proud to announce the launch of the Colour Selector by Sico on rona.ca and renodepot.com. Developed in partnership with Sico, this new tool lets RONA and Reno-Depot customers view some 1,800 colours available in the Sico catalogue and purchase tinted paint online from the comfort of their home. This follows the Stay safe. Stay home. campaign that was launched by Lowe’s Canada earlier in April and that aims to encourage consumers to stay home during the health crisis and to turn to e-commerce for their non-urgent needs.

“At Lowe’s Canada, we are constantly looking to improve the experience of customers who choose one of our banners to complete their various construction and home improvement projects,” explained Catherine Laporte, Vice-President, Marketing at Lowe's Canada. “Since consumers are increasingly turning to e-commerce, making it possible to purchase tinted paint online was a project that we had been working on for a while and that was supposed to be launched later this year. Given the current context, we redoubled our efforts to offer this service to our customers sooner than expected so they would not have to visit our stores to buy Sico tinted paint.”

More than just a simple transactional module, the tool developed by Lowe’s Canada and Sico offers customers a comprehensive buying experience: colour palettes, quantity calculator, information about the specifications of the various product lines and finishes available. Thanks to software integrated into the tool, users can even see the look of the many colours available in different model rooms. “The goal was to bring the user experience as close as possible to the experience customers can expect to have in store while leveraging the added value of technology,” added Catherine Laporte. Once their orders are placed, customers can choose to pick up their paint using the contact-free curbside pickup option outside the store or have it delivered by truck.

“The Lowe’s Canada team worked relentlessly to launch this project in record time,” said Louis-Philippe Morand, Director of Marketing at PPG, which owns the Sico brand. “Together, we have succeeded in bringing the user experience to an unexpected level in order to make this innovative tool a true benchmark in the country’s residential paint sector.”

The Colour Selector by Sico is exclusive to the Lowe’s Canada network and became available this week on rona.ca and renodepot.com. A similar tool will eventually be available on lowes.ca. In the meantime, customers who order paint on lowes.ca will be contacted by telephone by their store to confirm their colour selection.
